The Chisholm Trail Bookstore

The Chisholm Trail Bookstore
Duncan, OK 73534
1.580.656.4282

This is the front of the bookstore showing the middle glass plate; there two plate glass windows surrounding it. The bookstore is part of a large building in which there are separate offices, organizations, and businesses. Originally a car dealership, it was remodeled somewhere around 1975, I would guess, to the current structure. Approximately fifteen various organizations or business share this building, each as a separate and distinct unit with a separate entrance; it is rather like a mall in some respects.

The bookstore has been in business since 1995, and houses about 7,500 volumes in 1,000 square feet. Hours are mostly by appointment and quite flexible. Specialties are technical texts, university press books, regional Oklahoma and Western Americana books, and art catalogues. Numerous limited editions, first editions, and signed editions are available for purchase. A dedicated effort is made to locate books which are interesting and informative, presenting something of cultural or historical value to the reader.

Bookstore Owners!! We need your photos and information!

Hello and welcome to the Independent Bookstore Photo Gallery! Our goal for this space is to promote Independent Bookstores by showcasing the stores with photographs and a short description of the business.

This idea came about after reading the Bookstore Tourism blog, and realizing what a wonderful concept they have come up with. People love exploring bookstores and we believe that most would like to see photographs of the stores before planning their visit.

One thing we have always done when planning a vacation is to search the yellow pages, or something comparable, for bookstores around area we will be visiting. Taking that a step further would be to provide a description of the store, the type of stock they carry, and to also have interior and exterior photographs for viewing.

Our hope is that this little blog will grow into something much larger, that will be helpful for all bibliophiles, with a need to divide by region in the near future.

Thank you!
